Looking for Something?
I know what it’s like to get started. As a blogger myself, I was in beginner’s shoes once. Starting as a new mom who hired a website designer, I quickly discovered that I wanted to make it easy, convenient, and simple for anyone to start their own boss babe empire or develop their passion.
Are Your WordPress Comments Missing? 3 Quick Solutions
Are your WordPress comments missing? In fact this question comes up a lot, “My comments are missing! How do I get them back?” For this reason it can be scary when your WordPress comments stop showing. Here is a great tutorial to help you troubleshoot how to get your comments back. There are different settings in WordPress and Genesis that affect your comments. In order to get them back please follow the tutorials below.
Why do WordPress comments go missing?
There are many different answers to this question and most of the time… we really never know why it happens. It could have been due to a WordPress update, or a new plugin, or changing themes. But, don’t fret. Bringing them back is easier then you think.
Please take a look at these 3 suggestions below and hopefully one of these is your answer.
Also note: if you are using a Comment Plugin please contact the owners/creator of that plugin. They will be able to help you best troubleshoot why your comments are not showing up on their plugin.
Suggestion 1
To begin with… try this suggestion.
1.) After you are logged into your WordPress Dashboard, click on APPEARANCE then CUSTOMIZE (left side of your screen).
Why not check out my beautifully designed, feminine, Website Designs by clicking HERE.
2.) Next, click on THEME SETTINGS then COMMENTS AND TRACKBACKS.
3.) Check the box next to Enable Commentson Posts. This is where you can enable them for your pages too. It’s totally up to you. If this box is already checked… uncheck it then check it again. Sometimes toggling that checkbox will make your comments appear.
4.) Click PUBLISH.
5.) Check your site now and see if your comments have returned. If they haven’t, please try the other suggestions below.
Note: also try unchecking the box then clicking it again. Sometimes that helps.
Suggestion 2
This suggestion is best for individual post comments that are missing. You can find this one in the Post editor.
1.) After you are logged into your WordPress Dashboard. Click on POSTS then click to edit one of your posts.
2.) Next, look on the right side for “Discussions” and be sure that there is a checkmark in the box for ALLOW COMMENTS. Then click UPDATE.
Suggestion 3
WordPress Comment Settings – these settings usually don’t get changed unless you intentionally change them. But, still a good place to double check.
1.) Click on SETTINGS >> DISCUSSION.
2.) Next, be sure that you have a check in the box that says Allow people to post comments on new articles.
