If you’re just getting your blogging business off the ground, I’m sure you’ve got all kinds of questions going through your mind. One of the main ones is probably “do I have the right tools and resources to help me manage all this stuff?” Well, maybe not those exact words but I know you get me.
At least that was one of the burning questions I had when I started my blogging business. You see, I thought all there was to running a blog biz was get website going, write some content and promote it on social media. Nothin’ to it, right?
But then when I realized my blog was just like any other business.
Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links for tools and resources I use. If you choose to try or purchase any of these products, I’ll receive a small commish at no cost to you. Thanks for your support!
And that meant finding the right tools that will help me stay organized to keep up with all the responsibilities that comes with running a business.
Thankfully there are tools and resources – a bunch of them actually – to help you with your daily tasks.
Now, there are a lot of free tools out there that will work just fine. And personally – I don’t see anything wrong with using freebies as long as it’s going to do the job. But there will come a time when you will have to upgrade those free tools to support you as your blogging business grows.
Over the years I’ve tried plenty of tools – some free and some paid to run my business. I even put a resources page together to share the products and services I use and support.
But I thought I would narrow it down to my all-time favorites for you in this blog post.
So here is a list of tools and resources I currently use to manage my business. Some of these have a free and paid plan. All you would have to do is decide which version will support your needs.
Let me start with tools I recommend you use for your website.
When it comes to selecting a host for your website, you want a host that can support you as your business grows without worry about your site crashing.
SiteGround* is the hosting service I use here at Studio Mommy. My favorite part of SiteGround is their top-notch customer service. In the beginning stages of your blog you are going to have questions. SiteGround will answer our questions and guide you through.
If you are a blogger or have a website, professional, styled images are a MUST! Haute Stock is my go-to place for all of my styled stock photos. The images are crisp and clean and will work with about any niche. They also have customizable templates which can be customized to coordinate with your branding colors and fonts.
You also want to be sure you’re in compliance with the laws and regulations of the world wide web.
In May of this year the Data Protection Act was put in place to protect users within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).
The main goal of the GDRP (General Data Protection Regulation) is to give control to individuals over their personal data.
That means businesses must provide safeguards to protect personal data. We are also required to show transparency and provide the proper disclosures to let users know what kind of personal data we will collect and what we will do with it.
The Contract Shop* has contracts, privacy policies and other disclosure templates for your website or blog.
No doubt you’re going to want to start a mailing list. I recommend ConvertKit. Their automation and sequences are easy to set up. You can create beautiful landing pages and newsletters in a snap! They offer plans for every stage of your email marking. They also allow you to upgrade as your subscriber lists grow.
By the way, when you join our mailing list, you’ll get a coupon code for 10% off the purchase of a WordPress design – just thought I’d throw that in there. 🙂
I’m sure you’re going to be sharing your content and promoting your business on social media. So you’re going to need a social media management tool to manage all your pages in one place.
I’ve been using Tailwind for a few years now. I’ve tried other tools like Buffer and Statusbrew in between but they just don’t offer the features that Tailwind does. Tailwind is an excellent scheduling tool for busy bloggers. Tailwind has the best Instagram features to help you grow and save you tons of time! The Smart.bio is an amazing feature that allows followers to find your content quickly from your Instagram bio. The Pinterest scheduling tool allows you to schedule pins for months in advance and provides tracking tools for your Pinterest account.
I can go on and on about Tailwind, but if you’d like to learn more about their plans and features check out the Tailwind website.
Last but not least – you want to continue to grow and soak up as much knowledge about WordPress.
When you have a self-hosted WordPress website you are in charge of troubleshooting technical issues that might come up. Thankfully there are lots of resources out there to get your learn on.
Here is a list of education sites I’ve used to learn about WordPress and coding.
Those are the tools and resources I feel would help you grow and manage a successful blogging business. They have certainly helped me that’s for sure!
What tools are you using to run your blogging business? Tell me about them in the comments below.
And don’t forget to share this blog post on social media, I’d really appreciate it.
Happy blogging!

Thank you so much, this was very helpful. I’m just starting my blog so all of this information is so important to have.
You’re welcome. I’m glad it can help and thank you so much for your purchase! I just read your blog post about Disney. That’s awesome! That’s a huge group going 🙂 You are going to have a blast!!
Hi April,
Your list of tools for a successful blog are remarkable. WP Engine is one of the best tools in the marketplace. I also love HootSuit and have used it for the longest. However, I will also recommend the Buffer app and Statusbrew social media monitoring tools. These tools work seamlessly amazing. And for email leads, I use MailChimp and ThriveLeads.
Hey Moss! HootSuit has made life so much easier! For the longest time, I would manually post on each social media site. It took up so much time in my day. HooSuit has changed that.
I’m glad you like this post! Thanks for commenting!
