We’ve always been told change is good. That’s what experts tell us when we’re feeling the blahs. We’re told a new hair style or a new outfit can make us feel better. Or when we’re feeling the home blahs we should move the furniture around (hello Feng Shui) or add new home décor pieces. You can take it a step further and give your home or room a new paint job with design strategies.
The same can be said for your website. If your site has had the same design and layout for a while and it’s giving you the blahs, maybe it’s time for a change.
There isn’t a rule for how often you should update a website. First Page Marketing says we should update it as often as we need to. So you see, there’s no straight answer which means we’re left to use our own judgement.
If you’ve lost that lovin’ feeling for your website, do you ever wonder if you’re users feel the same way?
The good thing is you don’t need to do a whole revamp of your site. Sometimes all it takes is a tweak here and there to bring back that lovin’ feelin’. Just take a look at these four design strategies that can breathe new life to your website.
If your site’s homepage has been rockin’ the same layout for a while change it up by moving widgets around and update it with new images. Maybe add custom fonts or think about updating the copy such as your welcome message.
Try updating your website with a new color scheme. Not only will it give your site a new look but certain color palettes can increase engagement.
Use color pickers like Image Color Picker to help you select a color palette. Just upload an image and it will break down the HEX and RGB codes for each color.
But if you really want to change the look of your website…
Sometimes all it takes is a minor tweak to breathe new life into your site like updating the theme. If you’ve been using the same theme for a while, think about updating your site with a new premium theme that has more bells and whistles to really up the user experience.

Plus, having a new theme can protect your site from hackers who look for security weaknesses to steal your site’s data.
This may not give your site a new look – other than changing the featured image – but it will keep visitors on your website longer.
If you’ve been blogging for a while now, update old blog posts with fresh content, updated links and new graphics.
Those are the 4 design strategies to give your website a new look. It won’t bust your budget and they’re pretty easy to do with minimum downtime.
