Looking for Something?
I know what it’s like to get started. As a blogger myself, I was in beginner’s shoes once. Starting as a new mom who hired a website designer, I quickly discovered that I wanted to make it easy, convenient, and simple for anyone to start their own boss babe empire or develop their passion.
How to Setup MailChimp with the Genesis eNews Extended Widget
This tutorial will show you how to use MailChimp with Genesis eNews Extended. There are many newsletter subscription services out there to choose from however, one of the most popular services is MailChimp.
Hi! Before we get started, I’d love to connect with you on Instagram! Let’s talk blogging, business and design! Connect with me here!
How do we connect MailChimp with Genesis eNews Extended widget? If you purchased one of Studio Mommy’s WordPress themes and use MailChimp (or plan to) please follow this tutorial.
Step 1 – Create MailChimp Account
Create an account with MailChimp if you haven’t already. MailChimp is free up to 2000 subscribers! A great option if you are just getting started.
After you follow the steps to create an account on MailChimp… MailChimp will send you an email to Activate your account.
Note: You will see your address listed and may be wondering if your address will be shown to your visitors? The answer is Yes. This is so you and MailChimp are in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act. You can read more about this here.
Although you can use your home address, I highly do not recommend it. Another option would be to rent a P.O. Box instead.
Step 2 – Get the Embedded Code
After you save your list… the next step is to get the embed code so we can connect your list to your site. Click on the “Audience” icon then click “Signup Forms“.
From here click on Embedded Forms.
Next, click on Continue (top right of your screen).
Look for the Form Action link shown below in pink. You will see the words Form Action before the link. Copy the link that is in between the quotation marks – do not copy the quotation marks. See the example below in bold.
Step 3 – Setup MailChimp with Genesis eNews Extended Widget
If you haven’t done so yet please upload and activate the Genesis eNews Extended plugin to your site. Now it’s time to setup MailChimp with Genesis eNews Extended widget. Go to “Appearance” then “Widgets”. Then add the Genesis eNews Extended widget to the widget section of your choice (like the Primary Sidebar or view your themes tutorial for widget placement).
Step 4 – Last Step / Test It
After you save the changes you made to the widget… it’s time to test it. Go to your websites, fill out the subscription form, and see if it works.
There may be some incorrect information in the eNews widget settings. Double check the information in the “Form Action”. Can you send me a Support Ticket? This way I can take a look and help you further. Thanks.
Hi Niya. It looks like it might be your “Form Action” code. Please double check that you copied/pasted the correct Form Action code. If you are still having trouble. Please send me a support ticket then I can help you further https://studiomommy.com/submit-a-support-ticket/ Thanks.
I just set mine up but when I try to subscribe via the new button on my site I get an error message that says “Not Acceptable! An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.” Any idea what could be wrong?
Hi Linda. I subscribed to your email and it took me to a “Subscription Confirmed” page. Are you still having trouble? If you are… I would recommend to contact the plugin or your hosting provider for the Mod Security and see if they can help you. If no luck there then I would also recommend to contact the designer of your theme and see if they have any recommendations. Best of luck!
Thank you for this tutorial! I tried a different ESP then had to revert back and this helped me set it up correctly! (my tech guy had set it up initially so I was clueless)
this plugin with mailchimp is super super slow. takes forever to process before coming up with the “we must verify your email”.
Hi Debbie 🙂
Oh, no. If you are having trouble, I would recommend contacting MailChimp and let them know. They might be able to help you.
Hi April, I have the Ellie theme, when I try to test the subscriber and hit submit I get this message
“Come, Watson, come! The game is afoot.
You’ve stumbled upon a missing page, but the evidence is elementary. We’re on the case.” ( Mailchip
