Every blogger wants one thing – to have a steady stream of traffic to their blog. Okay, so maybe a blogger might want other things but I bet this is on their top 5 list!
Anyway, at some point in their blogging journey, every blogger has had a concern about blog traffic. So if you’re feeling like you’re the only one who isn’t getting traffic to their blog, believe me there are other bloggers who have been in the same boat or going through it now.
That includes yours truly.
I remember there was a commercial running on television – I think it was for webs.com. Anyhow, the commercial was about a small business launching their website for the first time.
The team is huddled around a computer anticipating the amount of traffic they’ll get and then suddenly it happens. The camera pans over to the computer showing a stats page and traffic is going bonkers.
Everyone is jumping for joy, the spokesman gives his sales pitch and the commercial fades to black.
Shewt, if only getting traffic was as easy as switching the on button on a website! The truth is getting a steady stream of traffic takes time but it’s not hard to do.
Have you been struggling to get traffic to your blog? You’re creating awesome content but no one is going by your blog and read it. Sucks, right? Especially if you want to make money blogging.
I know, I know…been there done that. When I started my blog I would check my stats almost every hour and just get bummed out when I saw nothing happening. That was some stressful times.
But then I started to focus more on what I was doing to boost traffic to my blog instead of what my stats showed so I got my learn on.
In the 7 years I’ve been blogging, I’ve collected a bunch of notes of tips I learned from authority bloggers. I keep them in my handy dandy notebook to this day.
On a side note, shout out to Blue’s Clues!
Anyway…
Here’s a look at the different ways to boost traffic to your blog.
You already know you can share your blog posts on social media to drive traffic to your blog. But now there are new features like Facebook Stories and Instagram Stories to talk about your content/products and direct them to your website.
And now there are Pinterest Sections to really showcase your content and products. So take advantage of those free features.

There are two ways you can share your blog posts in email.
First of all you can create a mailing list. You can use email marketing service providers like ConvertKit (affiliate) to set up your campaigns and welcome messages. Then you can email your latest blog post to the people on your list.
Another way to share your blog posts is by adding a link to your email signature so the next time you send an email the recipient will also get your latest blog post.
I love me some content sharing sites! There has never been an easier way to boost traffic to your blog.
Here’s how it works. On a content sharing site you’ll add your content so other members can share it and in return you do the same for them. It’s a win-win situation!
Here is a list of places to share your content.
Sharing your content on blog directories can also be great traffic booster.
Here is a list of blog directory sites to submit your blog to get that traffic to your blog.
Most of these are free to join with an option to upgrade but there are some on the list that charge a monthly fee but the prices aren’t outrageous.
Magazines apps can also give your blog a boost in traffic. They take the content you and other writers and bloggers share to design gorgeous layouts for your devices just like you would see in a print magazine.
For instance, here is a list of magazine apps to share your content on:
If you have old content you’re not sharing anymore, update it with a new title, fresh content, give it new images and republish it.
You can also turn old blog posts into Slideshare presentations, infographics or video posts to really breathe new life into that old content.
Have you been browsing on a website when all of a sudden a pop up appears asking if you’ll allow or block notifications? That’s called Push Notifications and it’s trending big time right now.
Push notifications are messages that come from your website. When someone allows your push notification to go through, he or she will get a pop up on their computer or smartphone to let them know when you have published new content on your blog.
Check out WordPress.org for a list of push notifications plugins you can choose from.
Commenting and sharing other blogger’s content is also a great way to drive traffic to your blog. There’s really no magic number but most bloggers who have shared their commenting tips say they blog hop anywhere from 7 to 10 blogs per day.
Join the knowledge-based community, Quora.
Quora is a question and answer site where questions are asked and answered by its community of users. This is a great way to prove you are an authority blogger in your niche.
Guest posting on other blogs can also drive traffic to your blog. If you’re writing kick a** content for another blog, that reader will definitely want to read more of your work!
And there you have it.
I hope I was able to introduce you to some new ways to boost traffic to your blog. Like I mentioned earlier, it takes time to get a steady stream of traffic. The trick is to take what you’re doing already and incorporate some or most of these ideas.
Remember don’t put all your eggs in one basket. J
