My SEO Tips To Rank And Rock In 2020: 3 All-Important Strategies To Use
If your goal is to improve your Google ranking or if you just want to get more people to your website, here are my tips to help you rock SEO this year!
These are simple but very effective methods you can start using today!
#1 It’s Still About Quality Content
That’s right my friends, it’s still all about that quality content.
Creating quality content will no doubt get you the best results. So, make sure the content for your blog posts are well-researched. And, don’t forget to use relevant keywords in your title, subtitles and in the body of the content.
#2 Think Voice And Mobile Search
Over the last couple of years, the way people search for information has changed. More people are using voice search. And most of the time they’re using a mobile device.
Did you know voice search is expected to grow by 30% this year? And that 80% of users used a mobile device to search the internet in 2019? That’s what Quoracreative shared in their article 101 Mobile Marketing Statistics And Trends For 2020.
For some tips on how to optimize your content for voice search, read the article by Digital Marketing Institution called SEO: How To Optimize For Voice Search.
#3 Mix Up The Type Of Content To Rank Higher
And finally, spice things up for your audience by offering visual content instead of writing your blog posts.
Video and Infographics are tried and true methods that have always worked! If you’re not comfortable creating a video or infographic here are a couple resources for you:
Lumen5 will automatically create videos of your blog posts. Check out this quick video to see how it works:
Visual.ly has the largest collection of infographics in a variety of categories. They also have video and other collection of visual content.
How To Make Sure Your Posts and Pages Are Optimized
Search Engine Optimization sounds like it would be hard AF if we had to go at it alone.
Lucky for us though, there are optimization tools we can use to make sure your content is well optimized.
I’ve been using Yoast SEO for a while now. I started with the free version – which that in and of
itself works just fine.
The free version will tell you things like:
- If you’re using too many keywords
- Missing alt attributes in graphics
- Whether the meta description is long enough and has proper keywords
- If you’re post is difficult to read
It will even show you what section in the content needs editing. For example, in the screenshot below, if you click on eye icon, it will highlight the part of the post that has consecutive sentences. Cool right?
I loved it so much I upgraded to the premium plugin. For example, now I can:
- Get a preview of what my posts will look like on Facebook and Twitter
- Upload a graphic for each social platform and their dimensions
- Get internal linking suggestions to other pages or posts on your website
- Redirect old URLs to new ones
They also have a new feature that makes sure social media platforms know exactly what your pages are about, by adding schema.org data the right way. And this results in faster indexing.
To sum up, if you want to rank and rock SEO this year, remember
- Content is still king
- Peeps are using voice and mobile for searches
- Use video and infographics to spice things up
